The good thing is: Most of what you do isn't very interesting. The self-importance and indignity espoused constantly amazes me. You think we don't know you fart and pick your nose? It's a given. What else are you doing? Yes, we know that too - but, we're not going to embarrass you by writing about it.
And... We know all this without even putting a monitor on you. We don't have to. Unless you're an alien, you're basically a monkey. Evolution is very predictable. Our human/organic bio system does the same thing over-and-over and we all have the same needs/wants/neurosis.
Unfortunately, these same things make it so we HAVE to setup systems to prevent theft. It is human nature to steal, hurt, and lie. We know you're going to do it.
Modern society has taught restraint. We all attempt to be good to each other and behave in public. We and the police try to ignore what you do 'in private' -- unless it's truly hurting people. But, fact is, our biological makeup makes us do horrible things privately. The WEB exposes so much of this to us. Popular media doesn't typically report the private hate perpetrated. But, what we need to look for are the aberrations in evolution.
The Texas invasion of privacy and the polygamist camp shows us that we don't even need evidence...
Forget the purported crime -- here's the bad part:
1) They took 400 children from their mothers. Imagine your kids were taken from you based on an anonymous phone call?
2) They had no proof of anything -- at LEAST with Nox we would have built a case and prosecuted the true villains with actual, visual evidence.
What I don't get is -- the government has NEVER needed to monitor you. They can make stuff up! In fact it turns out:
3) The 'anonymous call' was a hoax! It didn't come from someone in the camp. The government FABRICATED a story to raid that camp and rip the children from their mothers.
Perhaps our covert monitoring systems are an invasion of privacy? But, all they prove is what you did. Didn't do bad stuff? At least there is proof of it! Because, frankly, the government doesn't need proof of anything to make your life miserable.
While I side with the folks that want privacy -- I also look at security and theft all day long. Realize this: when someone steals, you are paying for that theft.
